Bahrain's handball team opens with big win at Asian Youth Games
Manama, Oct. 19 (BNA): The Bahraini handball team began their campaign at the 3rd Asian Youth Games with a 36-12 win over Hong Kong in Group A, held at the Handball Federation Hall in Umm Al Hassam Sports Complex. The tournament takes place in the Kingdom of Bahrain until October 31, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The team showed strong readiness and ambition, dominating early with solid defence and fast, effective attacks, leading 18-5 at halftime through superior technique and fitness. They maintained control in the second half, tactically disciplined and confident. Coach Mohammed Abdulrahman rotated players to assess readiness before upcoming matches, without reducing the team's performance.
Other Bahraini teams had mixed results: the Kabaddi team lost to Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the Kurash player Hasan Al Laith lost to India’s Vaibhav, and Pencak Silat player Jassim Al Sabaie lost to Iran’s Ali Reza.
Bahrain’s volleyball team starts their campaign on day two as Teqball makes its debut at the Asian Youth Games.
