Safa, BIC offer carbon offset solutions for 2026 F1 ticketholders
Manama, Apr. 8 (BNA): Safa, a voluntary carbon offsetting platform that provides individuals and businesses with tools to understand and manage their carbon footprint, and Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), “the home of motorsport in the Middle East”, have announced a partnership aimed at enabling Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix ticketholders to play an active role in environmental preservation and addressing climate challenges by offsetting the carbon emissions from their travel.
The collaboration brings together two portfolio companies of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), the Kingdom of Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund, in support of national efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 and reduce carbon emissions by 30% by 2035.
Through this partnership, Formula 1 guests will be able to offset their travel-related emissions when purchasing tickets for the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix. This initiative is considered highly important, as travel typically represents the largest source of carbon emissions.
The announcement aligns with the Kingdom’s national strategy to address climate change and mitigate its environmental impact. It emphasises Bahrain’s commitment to reducing emissions and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. The partnership also reflects Safa’s key role in offering sustainable solutions and BIC’s environmental efforts, including its FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation, renewable energy initiatives, and long-term sustainability programme under the theme “Racing Towards a Greener Future.”
