GCC Sec Gen meets Chinese trade delegation in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, May 26 (BNA): Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), received a delegation comprising representatives of major Chinese companies headed by Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, on the sidelines of the GCC-ASEAN and GCC-ASEAN-China summits in Malaysia.

The meeting reviewed the cooperative relations and strategic partnership between the GCC and the People's Republic of China, and explored ways to enhance them across the economic, commercial, and investment sectors. It also focused on strengthening ties between the two sides to serve their common interests.

The Secretary General emphasised the importance that the GCC countries attach to strengthening cooperation with China, considering it an important international partner for the GCC countries. He also commended the level of trade exchange and investment cooperation between the two sides, and the role played by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in consolidating this partnership.

Albudaiwi said that the interest shown by major Chinese companies in investing in GCC countries reflects the region’s attractive opportunities, stable and dynamic economic climate, advanced infrastructure, and supportive legislation. He added that this growing engagement underscores international confidence in the Gulf economies and strengthens the GCC’s position as a strategic economic partner both regionally and globally.

On his part, Hongbin expressed his appreciation for the attention and support that Gulf-Chinese relations receive, noting his country's keenness to enhance cooperation with the GCC countries in various domains.
