Bahrain hosts spectacular opening ceremony of 3rd Asian Youth Games
Manama, Oct. 23 (BNA): The opening ceremony of the 3rd Asian Youth Games, hosted by the Kingdom until October 31st, captured attention with its artistic displays that showcased Bahrain’s leadership in hosting major sporting events. The ceremony, held at Exhibition World Bahrain, welcomed delegates from 45 Asian countries in what is the largest youth event on the continent.
The performances combined authentic Bahraini heritage and modernity, using advanced digital technology, 3D visuals, lighting effects and immersive sound design, presented by Bahraini talent under national supervision.
The show illustrated how culture and sport can merge in one venue, offering a panoramic cultural and sporting experience that blends Bahraini traditions with youthful competition, embodying the Kingdom’s vision of linking cultural identity with sports development.
Segments included a Bahraini Ardah dance, performances by the Royal Military Band of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), and heritage-inspired presentations to reflect Bahrain’s deep-rooted identity in a contemporary format.
The parade of participating delegations attracted strong audience engagement, with nations entering in order, each flag displayed to reflect continental diversity and unity. The Bahraini delegation received a warm welcome and wore traditional dress as an expression of national identity and heritage.
The ceremony also featured the championship oath by athletes and officials, followed by a visual tribute to the torch relay across Bahrain’s governorates using cinematic production techniques. The flame was officially ignited by former Olympian Ruqaya Al Ghasra in a symbolic moment marking months of preparation and signalling the start of a continental sporting event that highlights Bahrain’s status on the Asian sports stage.
