Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra performs "Sound of Spain" concert at Bahrain National Theatre

Manama, Nov. 24 (BNA): The Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra delivered an outstanding concert titled Sound of Spain, conducted by Maestro Dr. Mubarak Najem, at the National Theatre of Bahrain.

The evening featured a selection of prominent Spanish musical works that embody the rich musical heritage of Spain, showcasing a blend of local and international artists.

The concert included timeless Spanish pieces, such as the "Concierto de Aranjuez" by composer Joaquín Rodrigo, featuring a classical guitar solo performed by artist Rainer Maria Nero.

The audience was capitative by Manuel de Falla’s "First Dance," and tenor José Manuel Montero delivered a moving performance of "Granada" and "Bamboléo," accompanied by the Bahraini flamenco band.

This collaboration created an astonishing harmony between with the guitarists and percussionist, particularly highlighted in the performance of "La Boda," which included expressive movements with castanets.

The event underscored the ability of the arts and music to bridge two geographically distant cultures, the Bahraini and Spanish.

The artists from both countries achieved significant success in collaboration, transforming the stage into a platform for cultural, artistic and creative exchange.

The Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra was established in 2022 by Maestro Dr. Mubarak Najem, who also leads the Police Band and established the Bahrain Music Institute.

The Orchestra marks a new era in the musical landscape of Bahrain, comprising over 100 musicians and choir members.

The initiative is supported by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), reflecting Bahrain’s ongoing sponsorship of the arts, which serve as a reflection of its identity and cultural heritage.

Bahrain also aims to position itself as a cultural hub that attracts all forms of cultural creativity.
