Manama, July 30 (BNA):  The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) has announced the launch of the Children’s Cultural Programme, set to take place from August 4 - 27, every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9 am to 12 pm at the Bahrain National Museum.

The programme offers children and their families the flexibility to choose the week that best suits them, with registration open for any of the four themed weeks.

Aimed at nurturing cultural awareness among children, the programme features educational activities that highlight the importance of cultural heritage and promote its preservation, encouraging participants to become cultural ambassadors within their communities.  It also includes field visits to prominent cultural landmarks such as the Bahrain National Museum, the Post Office Museum, the House of Basket Weaving, and the Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre.  These visits are designed to reinforce practical understanding of Bahrain’s historical legacy, strengthen national identity, and introduce children to the civilisations of their ancestors.

Targeting children aged 8 to 12, registration is open via the Authority’s official website:  www.culture.gov.bh.

The Children’s Cultural Programme spans four consecutive weeks, each offering a distinct theme and set of activities:  History Explorers, The Archaeologists, Art and Craft, and Bahraini Treasures.

The first week kicks off on Monday, August 4, with the Junior Site Inspectors and The Little Museologist workshops, along with a guided tour of the Dilmun Hall at the Bahrain National Museum.  On Tuesday, August 5, participants will visit the Post Office Museum and take part in two workshops, which include Design and Deliver a Postcard and Design a Mailbox.  The week concludes on Wednesday, August 6, with storyteller Mohamed Saleh presenting Myths, followed by a tour of The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Meet Gilgamesh! workshop.

The second week, titled The Archaeologists, starts on Monday, August 11, with a Traditional Dilmun Pottery workshop and the Barbar Temple Project, including a tour of the Hall of Dilmun Graves.  On Tuesday, August 12, children will participate in a Create Your Own Pottery workshop at a pottery factory in A’ali.  The week wraps up on Wednesday, August 13, with the Explore Artefacts! session and a photography workshop using 3D imaging techniques.

The third week, themed Art and Craft, begins on Monday, August 18, with artist Shaima Murad leading the Decorate Your Bag workshop.  On Tuesday, August 19, artist Ebrahim Al Ghanim will guide participants through the Little Artists’ Watercolor Adventure.  The week ends on Wednesday, August 20, with a tour of the Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre and the Creative Kids with Crafts workshop.

The programme concludes in the fourth week, titled Bahraini Treasures.  On Monday, August 25, Aisha Al Sulaiti will host a session introducing Bahraini customs through Grandma’s Tales, customs and traditions, and traditional games.  Tuesday, August 26, includes a tour of the House of Basket Weaving and the Little Weavers workshop.  The final day, Wednesday, August 27, features Hajar Al Fadala presenting Traditional Proverbs, followed by a Traditional Cooking workshop with Chef Bassam Al Alawi, and a photography session for children dressed in traditional Bahraini attire.
