Saudi Crown Prince donates blood in national campaign
Neom, Aug. 22 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, donated blood as part of an annual campaign he launched to promote voluntary blood donation, in a humanitarian initiative aimed at strengthening the culture of voluntary giving and encouraging broad community participation.
The initiative reflects HRH the Crown Prince’s commitment to humanitarian work and the Saudi leadership’s support for national healthcare efforts, with the goal of reaching 100% voluntary blood donation in line with Saudi Vision 2030 towards building a healthy and vibrant society.
The campaign highlighted the importance of blood donation in achieving self sufficiency in blood and its components, and in ensuring safe and sustainable supplies to meet patients’ needs across the Kingdom. A single donation can save lives by providing blood, plasma, or platelets. In 2024, more than 800,000 people in Saudi Arabia donated blood.
HRH the Crown Prince’s donation was described as a significant humanitarian gesture that reinforces community awareness, sets an inspiring example, and motivates individuals to embrace a culture of giving and contribute to saving lives through voluntary initiatives.
