Manama, May 15 (BNA): The German Embassy in Bahrain launched Artists in the Residence, a unique cultural initiative celebrating the transformation of the German Ambassador’s residence through contemporary Bahraini art.

This collaborative project features renowned Bahraini artists Adnan Al Ahmad and Aysha Hafez, presented in partnership with the RAK Art Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering artists by providing opportunities for visibility, development, and connection within the broader artistic community.

The Artists in the Residence marks a new era in Bahrain-Germany cultural collaboration, enhancing artistic dialogue and developing mutual appreciation through shared creativity.

Clemens Hach, Ambassador of Germany to Bahrain, expressed his appreciation for the artistic transformation of his residence by Bahraini artists Adnan Al Ahmad and Aysha Hafez. He said the artworks complemented each other and the space, and thanked the RAK Art Foundation and the artists for their role in the success of the project.

Shaikh Rashid Al Khalifa, Founder of the RAK Art Foundation, said that the Foundation views artistic cooperation and cultural exchange as key to fostering communication between communities. He described the initiative with the German Embassy as a valuable opportunity for artists to showcase their work in a new setting and engage with different audiences. He affirmed the Foundation’s support for projects that highlight art’s role in connection and inspiration.

Adnan Al Ahmad, a graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Besançon, France, approaches his art through a deeply personal yet analytically structured lens. His work combines geometric form with layered composition, shaped by memory, imagination, and emotion. Through a scientific and symbolic methodology, Adnan reinterprets old and recent memories into new visual narratives, creating immersive pieces rich with introspection and abstraction.

Aysha Hafez uses limestone as a mold for her forms, reflecting both delicacy and structure. Her work embraces themes of peace, beauty, and nature, symbolised by birds, doves, and olive branches, offering a poetic reflection on serenity and generosity.

The Artists in the Residence project represents a new chapter in Bahrain-Germany cultural collaboration, strengthening artistic dialogue and mutual appreciation through shared creativity.
