Manama, Jan. 20 (BNA): The Art Centre of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) hosted the opening of the Bahrain Arts Society Annual Exhibition.

The opening was attended by Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the National Arts Council and Honorary President of the Bahrain Arts Society; Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the BACA; and Shaikha Marwa bint Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Arts Society, alongside a number of ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, and a group of artists and figures from the Kingdom of Bahrain’s visual arts and cultural scene.

This year’s exhibition comes as part of celebrating an institutional and creative journey spanning more than four decades since the Society’s establishment in 1983. Throughout this period, the Bahrain Arts Society has reinforced its pioneering role in supporting creative achievements through a continuous series of solo and group exhibitions and art workshops. These efforts have played a significant role in energising the cultural movement locally and regionally, enhancing its position and partnerships internationally, and contributing to the circulation of Bahraini artistic projects within modern and contemporary contexts.

The exhibition features works by 93 visual artists from diverse artistic schools and approaches. Their works address key milestones in the development of the visual arts movement and the intellectual and aesthetic transformations accompanying it. This diversity highlights a rich body of contemporary artistic experiences and practices, rooted in local identity and expressed through painting, sculpture, photography and multimedia.

The exhibition runs until February 20 and is open daily from 9 am to 8 pm at the Art Centre.
