Somali President: Oil exploration, development of economic infrastructure to start in coming months
Mogadishu, Sep. 30 (BNA): His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, said that Somalia will begin drilling its first oil well in the coming months, and develop the economic infrastructure, which includes the construction of roads, airports, and seaports, in addition to a satellite launch base, that is considered to be the first of its kind in Africa.
The Somali National News Agency (SONNA) reported that this came during the opening of the 7th session of the House of the People and the Upper House by the Somali President yesterday, Monday, where he stressed the importance of completing the draft constitution, strengthening democracy, and ensuring the stability of the state.
HE the President highlighted the government’s achievements in national issues, including security, the liberation of territories, economic growth, political stability, conflict resolution, and the strengthening of international relations.
His Excellency also emphasised his commitment to dialogue with officials and citizens holding different views to achieve unity and national solidarity, ensuring his continuous support in stabilizing the country’s political situation, within the framework of the role of parliament, and the pursuit of national peace.
