Indonesia’s Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupts, sending ash cloud 10,000 metres high
Jakarta, June 17 (BNA): Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in Indonesia erupted, sending an ash column 10,000 metres high, with no immediate reports of injuries.
According to Reuters, the Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Centre said the ash spread in multiple directions. Authorities advised residents and tourists to avoid activities within a two-kilometre radius of the volcano’s crater, with additional exclusion zones extending 3 kilometres northeast and 5 kilometres in the same direction.
Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki, which stands 1,584 metres tall, is part of an active volcanic group. Its eruption last November caused 10 deaths. Indonesia lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, home to more than 120 active volcanoes.
