Egypt, Bulgaria discuss economic ties
Cairo, May 23 (BNA): Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egyptian Foreign Minister received his Bulgarian counterpart, Georgi Georgiev, for discussions on strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Middle East News Agency (MENA), the talks also focused on advancing relations as Egypt and Bulgaria prepare to celebrate 100 years of diplomatic ties in 2026.
Abdelatty noted that trade between the two countries grew by 50 percent, reaching USD 1.8 billion in 2024, making Egypt Bulgaria’s leading trade partner in the Middle East and Africa.
He underlined the importance of attracting Bulgarian investment and boosting tourism, adding that the second session of the joint economic cooperation committee will take place in Cairo in 2025, with the higher committee set to convene in Sofia in 2026.
