Manama, Mar. 18 (BNA):  Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the 296th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects.

At the outset, the committee extended its highest congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the approaching occasion of Eid Al Fitr, expressing sincere wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the Kingdom of Bahrain, and for further stability and wellbeing across the Arab and Islamic nations.

In implementation of the directives of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for the government to address damage sustained to citizens’ homes as a result of recent hostile Iranian attacks, the committee reviewed the latest developments in this regard.  It commended the Ministry of Works and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for their swift response in initiating repair works.

The committee also praised the dedicated efforts of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), the National Guard, the Ministry of Interior, and all relevant military, security, and civil entities in professionally addressing ongoing developments, reinforcing national security, and safeguarding the Kingdom’s achievements.

The committee extended its congratulations to the Bahrain Space Agency on the first anniversary of the launch of the Bahraini satellite "Al Munther", commending the mission’s success and the satellite’s continued efficient operation in orbit, reflecting the Kingdom’s advancement in space sciences.

The committee then reviewed items on its agenda, including a proposal to expand the Ma’ameer Wastewater Treatment Plant, as part of government plans to enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and infrastructure of the wastewater sector.

It also reviewed the latest developments in the Manama Waterfront Development Project, highlighting ongoing efforts to enhance the area’s tourism and investment appeal.

Furthermore, the committee discussed progress on the rehabilitation and comprehensive maintenance of the Jidhafs Central Market and reviewed the preliminary timeline for the Jidhafs Aryaf Investment Project, aimed at supporting local residents and boosting commercial activity.

The committee also followed up on regulatory and oversight measures to ensure the safe storage of materials in buildings, in line with the highest safety standards and requirements.
