DANAT, AmCham Bahrain organise exclusive diamond workshop
Manama, Feb. 18 (BNA): The Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) organized an exclusive workshop for members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain (AmCham), providing an in-depth exploration of the fascinating world of diamonds.
The event aimed to equip participants with the necessary tools, expertise, and hands-on training to deepen their understanding of diamonds and elevate their awareness of Bahrain's prominent role in the regional diamond market.
The workshop commenced with an introduction to DANAT’s state-of-the-art laboratory, recognised as a global leader in pearl and gemstone testing. This was followed by a comprehensive presentation on Bahrain’s rich history in the pearl and gemstone trade, emphasising the Kingdom’s unique status as a hub for gemological excellence.
Participants were introduced to DANAT’s internationally accredited academic programs, including the GEM-A Gemmology Foundation Programme, as well as the variety of specialised training courses offered throughout the year.
During the interactive workshop, AmCham Bahrain members had the opportunity to closely examine diamonds under expert guidance, gaining valuable insights into the classification, grading, and properties of different diamond types. The session also covered techniques to distinguish natural diamonds from lab-grown alternatives using the latest advancements in gemological technology.
Noora Jamsheer, CEO of DANAT, highlighted that the workshop is part of the institute’s ongoing efforts to enhance collaboration across various sectors. She emphasised that the partnership with AmCham Bahrain reflects DANAT’s commitment to sharing expertise and expanding knowledge within the jewelry and gemstone industry. She also highlighted Bahrain’s longstanding position as a regional leader in the jewelry, diamond, and gemstone sectors, expressing pride in showcasing this rich heritage.
Jamsheer emphasised that strengthening AmCham members’ expertise in diamond-related fields would open new avenues for leveraging the strong trade ties between Bahrain and the United States. She explained that this initiative contributes to the growth of export and import operations in the jewelry and diamond sectors, enhances the credibility of diamond shipments, and promotes successful trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
Qays H. Zu'bi, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain, highlighted that the visit deepened their understanding of this promising sector and its significance.
Zu'bi underscored that DANAT’s commitment to quality and innovation supports Bahrain’s vision of strengthening its national economy by utilising its unique natural resources. He emphasised the institute’s vital role in preserving Bahrain’s rich pearl heritage and enhancing its prominent standing in regional and global markets for pearls, diamonds, and gemstones. He expressed anticipation for continued collaboration, reinforcing ties between Bahraini and US business communities, and identifying new opportunities to develop mutual economic growth.
