Derasat highlights Bahrain-Oman history and cooperation in new publication
Manama, Jan. 16 (BNA): The Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat) launched a new book highlighting the shared history and exploring future opportunities for collaboration between Bahrain and Oman, as part of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s state visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
The book, launched in collaboration with the Sultan Qaboos University, is part of an agreement between the two institutions to enhance academic and research cooperation.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of Derasat, commended the publication, describing it as a testament to the strong and historic ties between Bahrain and Oman. He emphasised that the book highlights the enduring partnership between the two countries, which continues to advance under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman.
Structured into nine chapters, the book explores the historical evolution of Bahrain-Oman relations, shared architectural heritage, and contemporary cooperation in various sectors, including politics, culture, education, energy, and tourism. It also outlines frameworks for deeper integration and collaboration in addressing regional and global challenges.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed expressed gratitude to the researchers from both nations who contributed to the book, acknowledging their efforts in documenting the rich historical ties and shared values of tolerance, brotherhood, and peaceful coexistence. He noted that the publication reflects the commitment of both nations to advancing Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) integration and promoting Arab and Islamic solidarity.
