GCC Sec Gen, Swiss Foreign Minister sign MoU to establish strategic dialogue
Davos, Jan. 20 (BNA): Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and Ignazio Cassis, Foreign Minister of the Swiss Confederation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic dialogue between the GCC and Switzerland. The signing took place in the Swiss city of Davos, on the sidelines of the 56th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026.
The MoU comes as part of efforts by the GCC and Switzerland to develop their close bilateral relations and reflects the commitment of both sides to advancing their strategic partnership at all levels.
Albudaiwi said that signing the MoU with the Swiss side represents an important step towards strengthening cooperation and partnership between the GCC and Switzerland, and opens broader horizons for coordination and consultation in various areas of mutual interest.
Following the signing ceremony, a bilateral meeting was held between the GCC Secretary General and the Swiss Foreign Minister, during which means to enhance relations were discussed, along with issues of mutual interest and regional and international matters.
