Tehran, Dec. 5 (BNA): Ahmed Sabah Al Salloum, Vice-President of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, participated in a meeting of the Assembly’s Palestine Committee, held in Iran as part of the Standing Committee on Political Affairs.

Al Salloum affirmed Bahrain’s firm and long-standing support for the Palestinian cause, describing it as both a moral duty and a central humanitarian issue for the region.

He highlighted the significance of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement reached in October. He said the agreement offered a crucial opening to ease the suffering in Gaza by enabling a ceasefire, humanitarian access, civilian protection and a clear path towards reconstruction and long-term stability, ultimately advancing prospects for a just and lasting peace and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

He stressed that rebuilding Gaza is now one of the most urgent priorities, noting that reconstruction must be accompanied by reliable guarantees for the flow of humanitarian aid, protection of civilians and transparent mechanisms allowing international bodies to work effectively on the ground.

Al Salloum concluded by affirming Bahrain’s commitment to continued cooperation within the Asian Parliamentary Assembly and to supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
