Muslim Council of Elders strongly condemns statements by US Ambassador to Israel
Abu Dhabi, Feb. 22 (BNA): The Muslim Council of Elders strongly condemned the statements issued by the United States’ Ambassador to Israel, which included references to accepting Israel’s control over Palestinian territories and other lands belonging to Arab states.
In a statement reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the Council emphasised its categorical rejection of such remarks, which contravene the principles of moral responsibility and international law and contribute to fuelling tensions and threatening the security and stability of the region. The statement stressed that Israel has no right to the occupied Palestinian territories, including the West Bank, or to any other Arab land.
The Council called on the international community to assume its moral and legal responsibilities and to confront any attempts to separate the West Bank from the Gaza Strip in a way that undermines the prospects for peace, emphasising the need to halt settlement expansion policies and to work towards finding a just and comprehensive solution that guarantees the right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
