UN warns of worsening humanitarian crisis in Sudan
New York, May 23 (BNA): The United Nations warned of a deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan due to intensified fighting across various regions.
UN Secretary General Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said that approximately 47,000 people have been displaced in West Kordofan State, along with a further 6,000 from Abu Shouk camp and El Fasher in North Darfur this month.
He highlighted rising food prices and a cholera outbreak in Khartoum State, emphasising the urgent need for increased humanitarian funding. So far, only USD 552 million has been raised out of the USD 2.4 billion required.
