Manama, Mar. 25 (BNA): The Council of Representatives held its twenty-fourth regular session of the third annual sitting of the sixth legislative term, chaired by Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam.

On the council’s approval of the state budget for the fiscal years 2025-2026, the Speaker expressed his gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the directives to prioritise national interests and advancing development for the benefit of citizens. He also commended the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for implementing His Majesty the King’s vision and enhancing cooperation with the legislative authority through a modern national framework based on consultation and ongoing dialogue to achieve shared goals and development priorities.

Speaker Al Musallam highlighted that the consultative and coordination meetings between the legislative and executive authorities during the budget discussions reflected a shared commitment and national responsibility. He thanked Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, and the heads and members of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committees in both councils, as well as all members of the legislative authority and supporting teams.

He also thanked Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, and Ghanim bin Fadhl Al Buainain, Minister of Shura and Representatives Council Affairs, along with the legislative authority and government teams for providing the required data and clarifications. He said these efforts helped reach a consensus that serves national and citizen interests, and supports financial sustainability in line with development goals.

The Speaker expressed appreciation to Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Council of Representatives, and the entire Secretariat staff for their efforts.

Addressing citizens, he said that national interest will remain the core objective for both councils, and the government under the leadership of His Majesty the King.

The council reviewed a request to issue a statement on the occasion of Bahraini Youth Day and approved its inclusion on the agenda, authorising the Bureau to prepare and issue the statement.
