Manama, Sep. 22 (BNA): Aymen bin Tawfeeq Al Moayed, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), highlighted the remarkable achievements of Bahraini athletes at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where Winfred Yavi won silver in the 3000 meters steeplechase and Salwa Eid Nasser earned bronze in the 400 meters sprint. He noted that these successes reflect the ongoing support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in advancing Bahrain’s sporting position regionally and internationally and fostering an environment for outstanding athletic accomplishments.

He commended the role of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, in developing the sports sector through initiatives and projects that enhance competitiveness and athletic creativity in the Kingdom.

Al Moayed also commended the contributions of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), in supporting national teams and creating an ideal environment for nurturing champions and achieving outstanding results through close supervision of preparation programmes and international participation.

Al Moayed highlighted that Winfred Yavi’s silver in the 3000 meters steeplechase and Salwa Eid Nasser’s bronze in the 400 meters sprint reflect the advanced position Bahraini sports have reached and enhance the Kingdom’s presence on the global stage. He added that this accomplishment represents a significant addition to Bahrain’s sporting record and demonstrates the skill and determination of Bahraini athletes in representing the Kingdom with excellence.
