Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra to present Sound of Spain led by Maestro Mubarak Najem at Bahrain National Theatre
Manama, No. 13 (BNA): The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), in collaboration with the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), is organising a musical evening featuring the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Dr. Mubarak Najem. Through its universal melodies, the concert offers a captivating and distinctive musical atmosphere that unites classical grandeur, Latin passion, and the enchanting rhythms of the East, under the title "Sound of Spain".
The evening promises audiences an exceptional journey through scenes from the finest works of Spanish music, celebrated for their brilliance and vitality, interwoven with timeless orchestral compositions. Featuring a distinguished line-up of international musicians, artists, and guitarists, the concert will take place on the stage of the Bahrain National Theatre on Friday, November 28, at 8 PM.

This concert forms part of the contemporary artistic vision of Maestro Dr. Mubarak Najem, whose refined orchestral compositions have resonated across international stages. As one of the region’s leading figures in symphonic music, he founded the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra in March 2022, which has since grown into a major artistic institution bringing together over one hundred musicians and choir members from Bahrain and around the world.
Dr. Mubarak Najem’s musical journey began at an early age, he composed his first works at the age of thirteen, displaying a natural gift for music. He later pursued his studies at the Conservatoire in Cairo, where his talent flourished before continuing his education in London. There, he became the first musician from outside Britain and the Commonwealth to earn the prestigious qualification of Music Director, along with distinguished certifications from both the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music.
In 2010, he received a Doctorate in Arts, followed by a second Doctorate in the Philosophy of Folk Arts, combining his deep musical expertise with a unique ability to bridge Bahrain’s cultural heritage and global artistic innovation.
Currently serving as Director of the Police Band, Dr. Najem continues to expand his artistic vision through ambitious projects that aspire towards international excellence. His work reflects a steadfast belief that music shapes civilisations and embodies the Bahraini musical identity in its most inspiring form.
Throughout his distinguished career, he has received numerous awards and honours from opera houses and cultural festivals across the Arab world and beyond.
