HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad attends Bahrain Sports Day event at Sama Bay Park
Manama, Feb. 20 (BNA): Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), the GSA organised Bahrain Sports Day at Sama Bay Park in Muharraq.
The celebration featured a wide range of sports activities, including more than 30 sports games, various competitions, a marathon, an obstacle challenge, a CrossFit championship, e-sports, and a cycling tour. The event also included entertainment programmes, musical performances, food areas, and an interactive stage.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad said that Bahrain Sports Day has become a national event that highlights the importance of sports in society and raises awareness of its role in people’s lives. His Highness noted that the diverse activities reflected Bahrain’s social cohesion and the participation of both official and community sectors in promoting sports as a way of life.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for approving Thursday, 20 February 2025, as a half-working day for all ministries and government entities, allowing employees to participate in Bahrain Sports Day activities.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad commended the strong participation from public and private sector institutions, citizens, and residents, which demonstrates the initiative’s success in promoting a sports culture and sustainable physical activity. His Highness emphasised the leadership’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance public health and reinforce sports as a means of social engagement and sustainable development.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad added that Bahrain Sports Day reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to a future vision that promotes sports for all by providing an inclusive sports environment where all age groups can engage in physical activity. This contributes to improving quality of life and encouraging a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad emphasised the importance of sustaining and developing such initiatives to further advance Bahrain’s sports sector. His Highness also expressed appreciation to the organisers, supporting companies, and government entities involved in the event.
