Board of Trustees of Judicial and Legal Studies Institute holds 26th meeting

Manama, Jan. 6 (BNA): The Board of Trustees of the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute held its 26th meeting under the chairmanship of Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council and President of the Court of Cassation.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ali bin Fadhl Al Buainain, Attorney General; Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs, and Endowments; Counselor Nawaf Abdullah Hamza, President of the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission; Judge Isa Sami Al Mannai, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs, and Endowments; Dr. Fouad Mohammed Al Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain; Salah Ahmed Al Medfaa, President of the Bahraini Bar Society; Dr. Khaled Serry Seyam, President of the Institute; and Judge Dr. Riyadh Mohammed Siyadi, Director of the Institute.

During the meeting, the Board reviewed the Institute’s key achievements in 2025, monitored the implementation of previous decisions, examined training and financial performance reports, and discussed institutional development initiatives and future work plans aimed at enhancing judicial and legal training, supporting access to justice, and strengthening public confidence, in line with the Government Plan and Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.

Shaikh Khalid bin Ali said that the Institute’s achievements reflect institutional development, expanded training programmes, and investment in judicial human capital, contributing to the rule of law and reinforcing judges’ professional skills.

The Board reviewed the 2025 annual report, which documented 128 training programmes totaling 1,388 hours, benefiting approximately 3,903 participants including judges, prosecutors, lawyers, legal researchers, and practitioners. Programmes included core, continuous, and awareness initiatives, with a focus on professional skills and integrating law with modern technology.

Dr. Al Buainain highlighted the Institute’s role in advancing legal and judicial development and noted its regional and international collaborations in training judicial staff.

Minister Al Maawda commended the Institute’s central role in supporting the justice system, noting that judicial and legal training is crucial for improving performance, keeping pace with legislative developments, and enhancing service quality.

The Board also discussed development initiatives during the year, including specialised programmes, legal training for the deaf, data protection courses, HR manager training with the the Financial Disclosures' Examination Authority, and joint programmes with Youth City, emphasising societal inclusivity and alignment with sector needs.

Dr. Khaled Seyam noted that the 2025 achievements were supported by the Board, the Ministry, and partnerships with national and international institutions, reinforcing the Institute’s role as a national reference centre for judicial studies.

Judge Dr. Riyadh Siyadi added that the Institute will continue specialized and awareness programmes based on training needs to further improve judicial and legal performance, service quality, and public confidence.
