Tamkeen crowns winners of the 20th edition of StartUp Bahrain Pitch
Manama, Oct. 23 (BNA): As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the entrepreneurship ecosystem for startups, StartUp Bahrain, the Kingdom’s leading national platform supporting emerging enterprises, hosted the 20th edition of StartUp Bahrain Pitch.
The event was held through the support of the Labour Fund "Tamkeen" and in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Bahrain Development Bank (BDB), within efforts to inspire innovation among Bahraini youth and reinforce the role of entrepreneurship in empowering and developing the national landscape.
The event featured a judging panel of leading experts and seasoned investors in the field of entrepreneurship, including Abe Seksek, Partner at Sekuity Ventures; Ghassan Halawa, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Parachute 16; Laith Al Khalili, Associate Director at Mumtalakat; and Safa Sharif, EO Accelerator Board of Directors member.
The event featured a group of Bahraini startups including "Esbitar", a mobile healthcare provider delivering high quality, on demand medical services directly to patients’ homes, "You’re Nuts", a startup specializing in the production of natural nut butters free from additives and preservatives, "Herbal Mama" a haircare brand offering plant based, chemical free formulas to nourish and restore hair vitality, and "Dona’s wonders" specializing in 100% gluten-free and keto friendly dishes and pastries.
After the participating startups presented their businesses and were evaluated by the judging panel, the winners of this edition were announced, and "Dona’s Wonders" was crowned with first place and "You’re Nuts" in second place.
Dona Maria of Dona’s Wonders said they are honoured to have won first place in this edition of Startup Bahrain Pitch, a leading entrepreneurial platform that encourages creativity and supports promising ventures. She described the victory as a key milestone for their startup, which will positively influence their ambitions and help them achieve future growth and success.
Ali Albasri from You’re Nuts expressed his sincere appreciation, thanking all the organisers and supporters who contributed to the success of the initiative. He said participating in Startup Bahrain Pitch was an inspiring experience that allowed them to connect with a distinguished group of entrepreneurs, mentors, and industry experts. This has created new opportunities for the growth and development of their startup.
This support aligns with Tamkeen’s strategic priorities for 2025, which focus on enhancing the position and competitiveness of Bahrainis in the private sector, equipping Bahrainis with suitable skills for career development in the private sector and prioritising enterprise growth, digitisation and sustainability and supporting the development of the ecosystem surrounding the labour market and private sector.
