Manama, Aug. 21 (BNA): Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, highlighted the support extended to Bahraini women under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He noted that these efforts have advanced women’s participation in national development in line with the National Action Charter and the Constitution.

The Speaker underlined the establishment of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) as a key milestone in strengthening the institutional role of Bahraini women in national institutions and society.

Marking the 24th anniversary of the Council, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King, the Speaker commended its role in expanding women’s participation, building international partnerships, and representing Bahrain in regional and global forums.

He highlighted the legislature’s commitment to working with the Council to advance the national plan for the advancement of women, including through legislation and initiatives related to women, family and children.

Al Musallam also noted women’s contributions to parliamentary work and diplomacy, as well as their leadership roles within national and international assemblies.

The Speaker further noted the cooperation between the Secretariat-General of the Council of Representatives and the SCW, citing joint programmes and initiatives that support professional development and gender balance in parliamentary work.
