Manama, Feb. 8 (BNA): The Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) organised a voluntary clean up campaign along Karbabad coast to mark National Environment Day, observed annually on February 4. The initiative aimed to promote coastal conservation, biodiversity protection, and social responsibility towards the environment.

DANAT employees and volunteers participated in the campaign, removing litter and marine debris, with a focus on plastic waste, which poses a major environmental challenge.

The event also featured awareness activities on adopting eco-friendly behaviours, reducing plastic use, reporting environmentally harmful practices, and encouraging waste segregation and recycling. Discussions highlighted the importance of marine conservation and the impact of pollution on marine life.

Noora Jamsheer, CEO of DANAT, affirmed that the campaign reflects DANAT’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement, supporting national efforts to protect the environment.

" This campaign is part of DANAT’s ongoing efforts to support environmental sustainability and strengthen community engagement. Protecting the environment is not just a responsibility; it is a shared commitment to ensuring a cleaner and healthier future for generations to come. By participating in such initiatives, we reaffirm our role in supporting national efforts dedicated to preserving Bahrain’s natural resources." she said.

Jamsheer expressed appreciation to all volunteers and participants, commending their efforts in making the initiative a success. She emphasised that environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility that requires collective action across society.

Public and private institutions across Bahrain celebrate National Environment Day annually, promoting community participation in environmental protection and raising awareness of sustainability challenges. The occasion fosters collaboration between sectors to advance sustainability goals and ensure a cleaner, more sustainable environment for future generations.
