Southern Area Municipality decorates key locations for Bahrain National Day celebrations

Manama, Dec. 8 (BNA):  The Southern Area Municipality has decorated various locations across the Southern Governorate as part of Bahrain’s National Day celebrations, commemorating the founding of modern Bahrain as an Arab Islamic state by Ahmed Al Fateh in 1783 and the accession of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

As part of its annual tradition, the municipality decorates main streets and landmarks with night lighting in collaboration with national companies supporting municipal projects aimed at enhancing the national spirit and beautifying public spaces.

Among the key locations decorated was the Clock Tower Roundabout in Riffa, a recognized symbol for national occasions.  Other areas included Crown Prince Street, Riffa Avenue, Zallaq Highway, and Awali Roundabout, which were illuminated with decorative lights and glowing messages.

Additionally, the municipality completed unique decorations for the Aqra Roundabout in Isa Town with new light designs this year, given its strategic location between Abu Dhabi and Al Quds Avenue, two vital roads. The popular market area and the Isa Town Gate were also illuminated, highlighting their importance as architectural landmarks.

For the first time, lighting was installed on Bukuwara Street, Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Avenue in the Riffa Market area, the pedestrian bridge on Riffa Avenue, and the Riffa Central Market building, reflecting the municipality's efforts to expand decorations to new areas and spread joy in urban and market regions.

The municipality also upgraded lighting systems for several memorial landmarks by replacing traditional lights with modern, energy-efficient, eco-friendly systems, ensuring these landmarks are showcased beautifully year-round.

These projects aim to enhance the festive atmosphere for citizens, residents, and visitors during National Day celebrations and reflect the municipality's role in improving public aesthetics for national, religious, and social occasions.
