Bahrain to host Asian Duathlon Championship
Manama, Feb. 21 (BNA): Bahrain will host the Asian Duathlon Championship tomorrow, organised by the Bahrain Triathlon Association, in cooperation with the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC).
The race will start at 7:00 am in Amwaj, with the participation of top professional and amateur athletes from various Asian and GCC countries.
In the professional category, 35 male and female athletes will compete, with 30 male athletes representing Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Morocco, Japan, the UK, Iraq, the Philippines, China, and Poland. In the women’s category, athletes from Iran, the Philippines, and China will participate.
The race distances for professionals include a 5-kilometer run, a 30-kilometer bike ride, followed by another 5-kilometer run.
Additionally, an amateur race will be held alongside the championship, which has attracted widespread participation from local and resident players as well as athletes from the GCC. The amateur race distances include a 5-kilometer run, a 20-kilometer bike ride, followed by a 2.5-kilometer run.
