As part of HM King (state visit) to Oman, Bahrain and Oman sign MoU to enhance food security cooperation
Muscat, Jan. 16 (BNA): As part of the (state visit) of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the Sultanate of Oman, at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, the executive programme for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Bahrain Food Holding Company "Ghithaa" a subsidiary of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat) and Oman Food Investment Holding Company "Nitaj," a subsidiary of Oman Investment Authority.
The agreement was signed by Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), and Sultan Al Habsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Investment Authority.
The MoU aims to enhance food security collaboration between Bahrain and Oman by exchanging expertise, promoting best practices, and supporting local goods for regional and international markets. It focuses on sustainability, addressing shared agricultural challenges, and fostering strategic partnerships to drive joint investment and economic growth.
Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa highlighted the MoU’s role in advancing collaboration between Mumtalakat and the Oman Investment Authority, creating new investment opportunities across various sectors.
The minister noted that the partnership with Nitaj initiates efforts to implement sustainable solutions for innovation and growth in food security and agriculture, supporting shared development goals.
