Egyptian Foreign Minister highlights cooperation with EU through plan linking emigration with development
Cairo, July 6 (BNA): Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, received a telephone call from Magnus Brunner, the European Union Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration.
Dr. Abdelatty emphasised the importance of enhancing existing cooperation with the EU through a comprehensive approach that links migration with development and focuses on addressing the root causes of irregular migration.
According to the Middle East News Agency (MENA), both sides discussed means to enhance cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the EU on migration issues.
Dr. Abdelatty noted that migration represents a shared challenge for Egypt and the EU, which requires enhanced coordination based on mutual interests to support stability and development efforts in the region.
He also outlined the burdens borne by Egypt as a result of hosting nearly 10 million foreigners, including refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers, highlighting the resulting economic pressures.
