Riyadh, Nov. 13 (BNA): Bahrain added two bronze medals today at the Sixth Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, bringing its total to 12 medals: five gold, three silver, and four bronze. The event features athletes from 57 countries.

The first bronze came through the national volleyball team, which beat Qatar 3–1 in the third-place match at the Boulevard Arena. The set scores were 25–18, 20–25, 25–21, and 25–20, with Bahrain finishing on 95 points to Qatar’s 84. Captain Nasser Annan led the team with 19 points.

The second bronze was won in table tennis by the mixed doubles pair Rashid Sanad and Kinda Mohammed, who reached the semifinals before losing to Bangladesh in a competitive match.

With these results, Bahrain’s tally reflects the strong participation of its athletes in both individual and team events, supported by the Bahrain Olympic Committee’s efforts to provide an environment that enables competitive performance internationally.

The national handball team will begin its campaign tomorrow, Friday, against Kuwait at the Green Hall, entering the tournament aiming for a positive start.

Friday will also mark Bahrain’s participation in the duathlon, with athlete Roya Al Saati set to compete in the women’s sprint event.

Bahrain added another achievement on the sidelines of the Games, as esports athlete Sayed Hashim Ahmed won the silver medal in Tekken 8. Shaikh Ali bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, attended the medal ceremony and congratulated the athlete on his performance.

In show jumping, riders Mayoof Al Rumaihi and Hussain Mohammed completed the second qualifier at Al Janadriyah, placing 20th and 24th respectively.

Bahrain’s athletes will continue competing across several sports in the coming days, with further medal opportunities expected, particularly in athletics. The Games run until November 21.
