Egypt, Mozambique foreign ministers discuss bilateral ties
Cairo, Feb. 8 (BNA): Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with Mozambique’s Foreign Minister Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas to discuss strengthening bilateral relations.
Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s commitment to enhancing cooperation and exploring new opportunities for collaboration, particularly as the two countries mark 50 years of diplomatic ties this year.
According to the Middle East News Agency (MENA), Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s continued support for Mozambique’s counterterrorism efforts, emphasising a comprehensive approach that includes security, military, intellectual, social, and developmental aspects. He also noted the potential role of the Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding in this regard.
The ministers discussed preparations for the first round of political consultations between Egypt and Mozambique this year, as well as issues of mutual concern, including arrangements for the upcoming African Union Summit and institutional reforms within the organisation.
