US import prices rise more than expected in July

Washington, Aug. 22 (BNA): Data from the US Department of Labor showed that import prices increased more than expected in July.

The report indicated that import prices rose by 0.4% in July, following a downward revision of 0.1% in June. Economists had forecast only a modest increase of 0.1%.

On an annual basis, import prices fell by 0.2% in July compared with the same month last year, matching the decline recorded in June and aligning with economists’ estimates.
