Two buildings collapse in Morocco's Fez killing 19 people
Fez, Dec. 11 (BNA): Nineteen people have died, and sixteen others were injured to varying degrees in the collapse of two adjacent four-story buildings, inhabited by eight families, in the Al Moustakbal district of the Al Massira area in Fez, according to a provisional report by the local authorities of the Fez prefecture.
Immediately after being alerted, local and security authorities, along with Civil Protection services, arrived at the scene to carry out search and rescue operations. All necessary preventive measures were also taken, including securing the area around the collapsed buildings and evacuating residents of nearby houses, in order to ensure the safety of the population in case of any potential risks that could threaten their lives, according to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP).
The injured were transported to the University Hospital Centre of Fez to receive the necessary medical care, while search operations are still ongoing to rescue and assist any other individuals who may be trapped under the rubble, according to the same source.
