Abu Dhabi, Dec. 10 (BNA): Khalid Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), participated in a high-level panel discussion titled "Emerging Risks and Trends in the Financial Systems of the Arab World". The panel was held as part of the 20th High-Level Meeting on financial stability, jointly organised by the Arab Monetary Fund and the Bank for International Settlements, and hosted by the Central Bank of the UAE in Abu Dhabi.

Humaidan said that digital transformation will be a decisive factor in enhancing financial stability and creating new growth opportunities. He noted that advancements in supervisory technology and data-driven financial infrastructure contribute to more resilient and efficient financial systems.

During the session, the Governor highlighted the role of digital tools in fundamentally reshaping the supervisory landscape. He discussed the importance of real-time data, enhanced analytics, and emerging supervisory technology applications in giving regulators early insight into market developments, improving the detection of potential vulnerabilities, and strengthening prudential oversight.

He also noted that the region is at a critical turning point, where digital adoption in payments, credit assessment, collateral systems, and regulatory processes can accelerate growth, improve efficiency, expand access to financial services, and enable more precise, data-driven decision-making. He stressed that continued investment in digital infrastructure, talent, and regulatory innovation is essential to realise the sector’s full growth potential.

Joining Khalid Humaidan on the panel were Yahya Shunnar, Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority, and Abderrahim Bouazza, Director General of Bank Al Maghrib. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Fahad M. Alturki, Director General and Chairman of the Board of the Arab Monetary Fund.
