Manama, May 28 (BNA): Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received Mark Lawrence Donovan, Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, resident in Riyadh.

Dr. Malallah Al Hammadi, Head of the NIHR Committee on Detention and Facilities Visitation, was also present.

The meeting discussed means to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of human rights, in addition to discussing topics of common interest.

Al Derazi briefed the Ambassador on the NIHR’s efforts to promote and protect human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He highlighted the institution’s monitoring mechanisms, visits to detention centres, and coordination with relevant official bodies.

The Ambassador commended NIHR’s role in supporting human rights efforts. He emphasised the importance of continued cooperation and knowledge sharing in this vital field.
