Social Development Ministry chairs seventh Extraordinary Meeting of GCC Social Affairs Experts Committee
Manama, Mar. 18 (BNA): Ebrahim Ahmed Al Fadhala, Director of the Social Welfare Directorate at the Ministry of Social Development, chaired the seventh Extraordinary Meeting of the Committee of Social Affairs Experts of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The meeting was held remotely with the participation of representatives from the ministries of social affairs and development in the member states.
He noted that the convening of this meeting reflects the deep-rooted ties and ongoing coordination among GCC countries across various sectors and embodies the approach of joint Gulf action in addressing current developments. This comes in light of the recent Iranian attacks targeting the security and stability of GCC states, underscoring the importance of intensifying coordination and integration, and reviewing the measures and procedures undertaken by ministries of social affairs and development to support the most vulnerable groups, particularly children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and affected families.
The meeting also included presentations by member states on key social initiatives and interventions, as well as the exchange of expertise and best practices, leading to several recommendations aimed at strengthening joint Gulf cooperation in the social sector.
The meeting emphasised the importance of continuing to promote coordination and cooperation among GCC countries in the social field, in a manner that contributes to the development of social policies and programs, the exchange of successful experiences, and the support of joint efforts to enhance social protection and welfare systems across GCC states.
