UN warns of worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza, calls for increased aid access
New York, July 30 (BNA): United Nations agencies warned today of the continued deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, amid growing hunger, malnutrition, and severe shortages of essential supplies.
The agencies reiterated their call for a sustained flow of aid into the territory, as their teams work around the clock to deliver assistance to the exhausted and food insecure population.
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, World Health Organisation (WHO) Director General, said that ten WHO trucks carrying essential medicines, lab supplies, and water testing materials departed from El Arish in Egypt to the Karam Abu Salem crossing to enter Gaza. He added that two more trucks carrying medical supplies are expected to arrive on Thursday.
