Beijing, Sep. 21 (BNA): Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates of Morocco, held talks on Friday in Beijing with Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, during his working visit to China.

Minister Bourita’s visit is part of the ongoing momentum characterising the relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the People's Republic of China, since the establishment of the Strategic Partnership by His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, on the occasion of the Royal Visit to Beijing in May 2016.

The two ministers emphasised that the Strategic Partnership forms a solid foundation for cooperation, built on solidarity, mutual trust, and respect. Highlighting the importance of sustaining economic exchanges and rising foreign investment, they highlighted the need to strengthen the legal framework to boost investor confidence and ensure stability in implementing major projects across promising sectors.

They welcomed the ongoing finalisation of the revised Bilateral Agreement on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments, first signed in 1995, and agreed to boost Chinese investments in Morocco, strengthen joint industrial partnerships, and promote co-development at the continental level through tripartite cooperation in favour of Africa.

The meeting also explored new prospects for cooperation in strategic sectors, including infrastructure, industry, energy, innovation, digital technology, renewable energy, tourism, and higher education, according to the Maghreb Arabe Press (MAP).

The two officials welcomed the positive momentum in tourist flows between the two countries, an essential driver of people-to-people connections and a catalyst for economic and human exchanges.

They also agreed to further deepen cultural, academic, and scientific cooperation, including university, language, and artistic exchange programs, to strengthen mutual understanding and enhance people-to-people ties between the Moroccan and Chinese populations.

This convergence illustrates the strength of the Morocco–China strategic partnership and the shared desire to actively contribute to a more just, balanced, and inclusive international order.

The two ministers also underscored Morocco and China's commitment to the primacy of multilateralism, the centrality of the United Nations, and the principles of the UN Charter, including the peaceful settlement of disputes and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

Bourita's visit was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a Morocco–China Strategic Dialogue, a mechanism aimed at enhancing political consultation and defining new horizons for cooperation and diplomatic interaction.
