Manama, Mar. 17 (BNA): Al Azhar Al Sharif strongly condemned the Islamic Republic of Iran’s continued attacks on its neighbours, including the Gulf states of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Sultanate of Oman, as well as other neighbouring and Arab countries, including the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Iraq, the Republic of Türkiye, and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Al Azhar called on Iran to take immediate action in line with Islam and its principles to stop the attacks on these Arab and Islamic countries without conditions, respect their sovereignty, and refrain from harming them in any way, in order to protect the lives of innocent civilians who are not involved in these conflicts.

Al Azhar affirmed that targeting residential areas, airports, hospitals, and energy facilities in countries not involved in any conflict constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and goes against Islamic principles that protect life, property, and human dignity. It reminded that Islam prohibits killing the innocent and protects the lives, property, and honour of all Muslims.

Al Azhar stressed that Iran must halt its military attacks on Gulf and neighbouring countries, stop any escalation, and work to resolve the crisis to protect civilians, preserve security and stability, and respect Islamic law, international law, and the sovereignty of states.

Al Azhar welcomed the efforts of the Egyptian leadership to stop all military operations in the region and called on the international community to take responsibility in ending the war, prioritising wisdom and dialogue, and preventing the spread of conflict to safeguard regional security and protect civilians.

Al Azhar expressed its condolences and solidarity with the families of the martyrs and victims in the affected countries, wishing for mercy on the deceased and a speedy recovery for the injured.
