Gold prices drop as dollar firms

Singapore, Oct. 23 (BNA): Gold prices edged lower on Thursday, weighed down by a firmer dollar.

Spot gold was down 0.1% at $4,089.21 per ounce, as of 0502 GMT. US gold futures for December delivery climbed 1% to $4,104.70 per ounce, Reuters reported.

Elsewhere, spot silver rose 0.1% to $48.56 per ounce, platinum slipped 1% to $1,605.66 and palladium lost 1.7% to $1,433.91.
