SCW, Bahrain Women’s Union hold joint meeting

Manama, Sep. 10 (BNA):  Lulwa Saleh Al Awadhi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), met with Ahlam Ahmed Rajab, President of the Bahrain Women’s Union, in a joint committee meeting to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two institutions and implementing their memorandum of understanding (MoU).

During the meeting, Al Awadhi highlighted the ongoing commitment of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of SCW, to strengthen collaboration with civil society institutions concerned with women’s affairs, emphasising that the relationship between SCW and the Bahrain Women’s Union is complementary in serving Bahraini women.

The committee reviewed areas of cooperation, including raising awareness on gender equality and equal opportunities, promoting the national model for integrating women’s needs, highlighting women’s contributions and achievements, exchanging expertise in combating violence against women and providing family guidance services, sharing statistics, studies, and research on mutual interests, and collaborating on awareness, training, and knowledge dissemination programmes related to women’s issues and family stability.

The meeting also examined initiatives under the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women (2025 – 2026), setting joint priorities across the plan’s four key areas, including family stability, decision-making, economic participation, and quality of life.

Additionally, the committee discussed the initiatives and projects of the Bahrain Women’s Union, including awareness programmes for young couples preparing for marriage and media-related projects, and explored further cooperation in promoting and implementing SCW initiatives, including its awards and ongoing programmes.
